Wanda Group held a groundbreaking ceremony for its first Wanda Plaza development in Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region – the Urumqi Jingkai Wanda Plaza – in Urumqi on April 3.

Officials including Urumqi Party Secretary Zhang Huaguo, Vice Mayor Gaofeng and Wanda Commercial Properties Vice President Yu Xiuyang witnessed the remarkable moment.

The project is located in the Urumqi Economic and Technologic Development Zone and will comprise of a luxury five-star hotel, international shopping center, food street, cinema, Superstar KTV, a Grade-A office building, international apartments, deluxe apartments and retail outlets. It combines shopping, dining, business, and culture functions into one complex.

The new high-speed railway station will open in 2015 and bring nearly 30 million people to this area within a year, which will be a huge boost to Urumqi Jingkai Wanda Plaza's development.
